Join us at the May 6 membership meeting which will feature Tina Cordova, executive director of the Tularosa Basin Downwinders Consortium. The testing of the atomic bomb at the Trinity Site of the White Sands Missile Range is arguably the environmental justice movement’s origin story in New Mexico. Tina will update us on the Consortium’s tremendous victory in winning the 2025 extension of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) to cover, for the first time, New Mexico Downwinders and post-1971 uranium miners.

Primary Candidates Coming to the Meeting We have already heard from Abby Foster for state representative and Daisy Maldonado for Dona Ana County commissioner. At the May meeting, their opponents Marian Matthews and Angela Rowe Garcia, respectively, will have a chance to speak. We will then ask members to endorse candidates in these two races.
